Its glittering spires, the silver pagoda, and its colonial French buildings on the bank of the Tonle Sap River are quietly beautiful. Visit Phnom Penh’s oldest shrine, Wat Phnom, then stop by the Art Deco styled Central Market, one of the city’s most interesting buildings, where all kinds of goods are on sale. Arise early to watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument ever built which is spectacular. Its five towers are recognized around the world. And then begin your exploration of the temple complex, the vast archaeological treasure and wonder. See the network of war tunnels in Chu Chi, an incredible underground network of tunnels and chambers constructed over several decades by Vietnamese fighters in the period to 1975. On your return to Saigon see the sights on a guided tour. (B)

Cham seaport but has been influenced through centuries by a myriad of traders from various cultures (Persia, Arabia, Japan, China, Portugal, France, to name a few), and its ancient architecture is a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese. In recognition of its uniqueness and historical importance, UNESCO has placed Hoi An on its World Heritage List. Remainder of the day is free. (B)
Take a guided tour to the local market with the chef of Red Bridge Restaurant. Continue by boat to Red Bridge Cooking School to learn the art of preparing some local dishes, with the opportunity to cook your own. In the afternoon walking tour through Hoian old town (B)
Journey north to Hue over the Hai Van Pass stopping en-route at the Cham Museum, which displays artifacts from the culture of Champa and China Beach. On arrival visit the elaborate Royal Tomb of the Emperor Tu Doc, the Citadel and continue to the beautiful Thien Mu Pagoda with its impressive “Heavenly Lady” seven-story tower. Return by boat along the Perfume River. (B)
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Hanoi. On arrival, explore the bustling Old Quarter on foot. In the evening experience Hanoi by cyclo and entertained by a performance of the thousand-year-old Vietnamese art Water Puppet Show. (B)
Drive east to Halong Bay. Explore the legendary Halong Bay onboard a traditional junk and savour a fresh seafood lunch. Halong Bay is a seascape of craggy karst towers that rise hundreds of feet above the unique jade-green waters of the bay. It is a World Heritage Site. Return to Hanoi. (B/L)
Commence the day with a city tour of Vietnam’s capital. The founding father of modern Vietnam was Ho Chi Minh, whose life is explained during the course of your city tour. Visit to Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, founded in 1070 as what was in effect a Confucian University, One Pillar Pagoda and the History Museum. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
Arise early for your flight to Vientiane, the delightful friendly capital of Laos, studded with crumbling French mansions, bougainvillea-blooming streets and steaming noodle stalls. On arrival see the capital’s most prominent sights including the Golden Stupa - That Luang and the beautiful Wat Sisaket. (B)
Fly to the World Heritage town of Luang Prabang; spend the afternoon touring some of the many exquisite and famed temples. (B)
Visit the National Museum, and then take an up-river cruise on the Pak Ou Caves, also known as Tam Ting Caves, meaning “Caves of a thousand Buddhas”. Stop off at a nearby village on your return to the city. (B)
Arise at dawn to witness the procession of monks collecting food as alms. Later, drive to beautiful Kuang Si Falls where tempting pools of incandescent blue are set amongst tall, shady trees at the base of this massive cascade of water. (B)
